Performing Arts

As the Performing Arts department we shine the spotlight on the core development of our musicians, dancers and actors. Our renewed approach gives our performers the opportunity to develop from a novice performer to NCEA-level achiever.

State of the Art Facilities

To help our ākonga achieve their goals, they have access to state of the art facilities.

In all of our areas, we aim to facilitate the most traditional and contemporary approaches and styles. If you want to reach new heights and unlock your full potential, we will help you give flight to your dreams.

We are also looking forward to our School Production that has been written to celebrate our beautiful Cultural Narrative. This will take place during Week 8 of Term 3.

Year 9 & 10

Our year 9 & 10 ākonga are given the opportunity to get a taste of all of the options available to them in year 11-13. The courses offered include:

  • Introduction to dance and choreography

  • Music literacy (includes piano lessons and vocal sight-reading)

  • Introduction to drama and vocal coaching

  • Introduction to music

In all the above-mentioned courses, ākonga are encouraged to not only perform but also create their own works.

Seniors (year 11-13)

For our seniors (year 11-13), NCEA Level 1-3 Achievement Standards are offered in dance, drama and music. Unit Standards are also available for achievement in activities ranging from sound and lighting, to costume and make-up design.
