Hospitality Programme

We have a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen in which our ākonga have the opportunity to access the Food Technology curriculum.

About our Hospitality Programme

We offer a comprehensive and varied Hospitality Programme for ākonga in Year 12 & 13 in which they use state of the art facilities under the expert guidance of a trained chef and kaiako.

Our Hospitality ākonga also gain industry experience through catering and hosting of kura events ranging from Community Restaurant Evenings to catering for the school Formal. These catering consignments range from 20 to 400 guests and enable our ākonga to get the best possible authentic learning experience, as well as numerous transferable life skills along the way.

The Hospitality Programme is undoubtedly an integral step to what can be a very enjoyable, successful and varied career within the realms of hospitality, catering and food service.

Our junior ākonga follow a healthy eating programme which promotes healthy eating choices in years 7 & 8, as well as building confidence in the kitchen to enhance a simple meal into something more substantial and nutritious.

Other junior years have the luxury of split projects whereby the basics are learnt in the first lesson, then the finishing is researched and followed through in the second lesson. Consequently, our fruit tarts and our decorated cookies were outstanding!
