Student Ambassadors for Haeata

My name is Estella-Maris Hungerford and I have two sisters. I am currently a year 10 student at Aranui High School. Previously I attended South New Brighton School. The thing I love about aranui is the size of the school, it is quite small. My favourite subjects are English and Science, I like to see how everything works. When I leave school I would like to do something physical that stretches my brain. I love surfing and my role model is Carissa Moore, my favourite time surfing was when I competed in Gisborne.

My name is Tiana Lealiifano. I am in year 5 at St James' school and came there when I was 7 from Shirley Primary. I am Samoan but was born in New Zealand, I have 8 brothers and 5 sisters. I like being at St James because the teachers care for you and your learning, I love reading with the teacher, Captain Underpants is my favourite. In my spare time I like to watch TV, read books and play netball either as a goal shooter or goal attack. I also love puppies.

My name is John Reyes, I am a year 10 student at Aranui High School. I was born in the Phillipines but have been in New Zealand since I was 7 years old. The things I like best about school are the technology and the sports. I like being in levels for learning. When I leave school I want to go to University but I am not sure what I want to study yet. In my spare time I like playing basketball and surfing the internet, particularly watching youtube. I like being an ambassador because it means I am representing the school and developing my leadership skills.

My name is Taylea Jo Gwatkin and I go to Aranui Primary School. I am half Samoan but was born in in New Zealand I have 2 brothers and live on Breezes Road. I love learning and working independently and I also like it when people help others, my favourite subject is Maths. Outside of school I like playing Netball. I like being an ambassador because I have learnt a lot of things from the role.

My name is Eli Bijl-Kakoi, I am in year 6 at Aranui Primary, I have been there since year 2, I went to Linwood Avenue first. My Dad is Samoan. I like Aranui Primary because all my friends are there and I get to work with my favourite teachers. I like learning how to do procedural writing and I love Maths, particularly learning new things about numbers like roots and powers. I like to be an ambassador because it means I am a role model for younger students and it's cool!

My name is Nikita Elliott and I go to Wainoni School. My Dad is Samoan, my Mum is Māori and I live with my Nan. I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers. I love the teachers at Wainoni because they listen to what you have to say. I like learning different things, particularly about different countries, and enjoy public speaking. Outside of school I like hanging out with my family and playing netball. I like being an ambassador because I like sharing ideas and I have never been involved in something like this.

My name is Nathan Palmer, I am a year 10 student at Aranui High School and before that I went to Aranui Primary School. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother. In terms of learning I like Biology and Chemistry because I like doing experiments, I am also into technology, I prefer Macs over PCs. I also like Music but I don't like exercising. I like being an ambassador because I believe I relate well to people and I am an optimist with a good attitude.

My name is Kashmere Honetana and I'm a year 7 student at Wainoni. I am Māori from Tainui and have 3 sisters and a brother. I like working with technology and learning and discovering new things. I also like Art and writing fantasy stories. In my spare time I like playing football.

My name is Ashlyn Hensley-Smith. I am a year 6 student at Avondale but only started there this year, perviously I was at St Anne's. I am NZ European and have 2 older sisters. There are lots of things I like about Avondale learning is exciting and I have lots of friends. I particularly enjoy Maths, Reading and Writing. In my spare time I do aerials, hoops and ribbons.

My name is Jasper Pelayo. I am 12 years old and attend Wainoni School. I have been there for 5 years since I came to New Zealand from the Phillipines. I like Wainoni because it is a quiet and peaceful school, I love writing, particularly fiction. Much of my spare time is spent helping my family but I also like football and rugby.

My name is Kayla Stevens and I go to Avondale School and have always gone there. I am 10 years old and have 2 brothers, one older and one younger, my Dad is Māori. My favourite thing at school is Art, I love exploring different types of Art. My favourite pastime is BMX riding, I like to go to the track at Bexley. I also like playing in the field next to my house and am good friends with Ashlyn.

My name is Pele Atonio, I am 12 years old and go to Wainoni School which is where I have always gone. I was born in Apia in Samoa but left there when I was 3 months old, I went back last year for a visit. I attend church in Hornby and have 5 brothers and 2 sisters, I am the second youngest. I like Wainoni School because it is nice and quiet, I like learning English. In my spare time I play rugby for Otautahi as a first 5. It is important to me to be an ambassador, I feel privileged. 

My name is Meschach Faafoe. I am Samoan but born in New Zealand, my family are from Upolu. I have 2 younger sisters and we speak Samoan at home, I attend the same church as Pele. Maths is my favourite subject it is good for my brain. I love playing rugby for Otautahi as a forward. When I leave school I would like to get a trade like my Dad who is a carpenter. It makes me happy to be a school ambassador.

My name is Lennox Fonoti, I am Samoan and Māori my Iwi is Ngati Porou. I go to St James' School. I like the teachers there as well as the students and I like the way the students are kind and help people that are left out. I dream of being a NRL player, my Dad played for the Junior Kiwis, it is important not just to be a good player but to be a good sportsman. When I get home from school I like telling my Mum what I learnt. I like being an ambassador because it means I am representing my school and Aranui. It makes me feel important stepping up to be a leader.

My name is Grace Smith and I am a year 10 student at Aranui High School, before that I went to Wainoni School. My Mum is from Gisborne and I am Māori/NZ European, my Iwi is Ngati Porou. I live with my Mum, 2 older brothers and a niece and nephew. I also have 2 sisters. I like Aranui High School because all my siblings went through there. I like Maths and Music is my passion, particularly playing classical piano. When I leave school I'd like to be a lawyer or a social worker. I like being an ambassador because I pick up things quickly, I like talking to people and I feel this is part of a legacy.

My name is Maria Petelo and I go to Aranui Primary School. My family are Samoan from Savaii but I was born in New Zealand. I have 5 brothers and 2 sisters and like having a big family because there are lots of people to talk to. I love Maths at school because it stretches my mind and I am good at it. Maybe I will be a nurse when I leave a school. I like playing sport, particularly netball. I like being an ambassador because I like to share my opinions.

My name is Brodie Goldwater, am NZ European and I am a year 5 student at Avondale Primary School. I have 1 sister and 4 brothers and live with my sister and 1 of my brothers. At school I like learning new things, using technology and writing poems. I also like the sandcastle competitions we have. In terms of sport I like playing football and gaelic football.

My name is Lucas Brougham. I am 9 years old and a year 5 student at Avondale. I have been there since I started school. I have a 3 year old brother. At school I like playing with my friends and doing my reading. In the weekend I play with my cousins.
