Kōmanawa / Bilingual Unit Years 1-8 working from home this week

Kia ora e te whānau,

E mahi tahi ana, kia kounga ai ngā hua mātauranga. Working together for quality education. As you will no doubt be aware our kura/school is experiencing unprecedented levels of kaimahi/staff absence due to COVID-19 and the new viral flu that is rife in our community. Today we have 15 kaiako/teachers away and 6 support staff. Sadly, these kaimahi/staff will be away from kura/school for the next week.

As a result we can no longer staff Kōmanawa (Bilingual Unit) at the required ratios so we will need to open our online learning platforms for the rest of this week. Therefore we are asking whānau who can, to keep ākonga home for the rest of this week. This applies to all Kōmanawa ākonga in Years 1-8.
If you are unable to keep your tamaiti/child at home they will be supervised here at kura, but with the reduced staffing levels we will be delivering an altered teaching programme.
We will update whānau about next week’s options on Friday, 24 June 2020 (Matariki Public Holiday) with a decision about whether classes will resume on site on Monday, 27 June 2022.
Thank you for your understanding and awhi as we work together to keep everyone safe and well.

Ngā mihi

Whaea Peggy
